Every time I insert my 32gb flash drive into my win 10 laptop it gets migrated to devices and printers and so I can't access it as a drive . Secure installer takes control of it I have not been able to change it under settings

Stick it in a different computer that recognizes it and format it

That is if there is nothing important on it

I had a Sandusky cruder that actually had a portion on it with some crappy software that always started when I plugged the drive in. It turned out there was a partition on the stick that showed up a cd drive if I remember properly. If you can see the partition delete it and the storage and re partition the full drive. If try plugging it in a pc that can see it properly. Right clicking on my computer selecting manage and see what is shown for the drive. Then right click on the portion you want rid of. Good luck. Sounds the same issue I had but I am stealing clear of windows 10

That is strange, What format did you use?

Have a look here:

I formated it to fat32.Looked but I don't get any message just the sound and then it is migrated to devices and printers where it shows as a mass storage device but it is not showed in my computer under disk drives

This stupid windows 10 operating system is doing my head in it has just migrated a 250 GB USB HDD and now this is not usable either they only show up in devices and printers . I am doing a system restore and if this doesn't work I will have to try a fresh install of windows 7 or Linux . To make my day complete this hard drive is from my solo2 as well it has all my downloaded USA TV programs on it but the solo2 can't boot it any more , power problem because when I remove it the solo2 boots ok

I have put it in a xp laptop and it shows up as ntfs format but every time i insert in the 10 laptop the same happens two tones and it only shows in devices and printers but is not openable to read or write to as it is not shown as discdrive

Just to check that your USB host is working properly, have a look under Device Manager (Run > devmgmt.msc). If there is an exclamation mark next to them, or an unknown device listed, reinstall the USB drivers for the motherboard.

All working OK smaller USB flash drives and SD cards work it I'd only this 32 GB drive the problem is with

I had exactly the same problem after using EaseUs Back Up. After a lot of frustation, a friend suggest that I use this method to clean the disk first of hidden partitions , before reformatting.
1. Go into Command Prompt with admin rights
2. Type diskpart
3. Type list disk
4. This should bring up a screen with all your disks by Disk No – Status –Size – Free – Dyn – Gpt
5. Type select disk ? where( ?) is the problem disk (Make certain you have the right one or else)
6. You should now get confirmation of the disk selected
7. Type clean
8. Now reformat the disk in the normal way.
9. Well It worked for me

@Gwyn1 list disk shows : disk 0 online 465 GB 1024 KB : disk 1 No media 0B 0B like I said it does not show on the windows 10 laptop except in Devices and Printers
