Re: Paches

Right yes you are out of date and now you have two choices but note that Ethernet also called Service+ has gone for good.

1: Use the March 2012 patch and the latest softcam, this will give you some but not many channels unless you also use a line.

2: Use the Vasiks patch available on their forum, this will restore things back to the days when we had Ethernet and will give a good mix of channels to watch BUT in order to use the patch to it's full extent* you will need to apply for VIP membership on the Vasiks forum and make a donation to that forum of £50. To my mind it's well worth the donation.

* Note there is no point installing the Vasiks patch unless you take out the VIP membership as it will do nothing for your viewing but for what it offers the VIP donation is very good value.

Re: Paches

Re: Paches

He said you had to donate £50 to get channels if you dont want that then use option 1

£50 Donation sounds like a blooming liberty to me mate !!!!

Re: Paches

Had a look but you have to pay

Yes to use the patch to it's fullest extent you do have to donate £50 to that forum BUT work it out £50 over a years membership works out at 96.1p a week or put another way ~14p a day for one hell of a lot of viewing.
Mate if it's only free tv you want then get a freesat receiver but your Spiderbox can do SO much more and for only 14p a day well it simply dont make sense not to (in my mind anyway).

Re: Paches

some people wont use payservers and thats what it is when all is said and done! i agree its a good deal for what you get and if it lasts 2 months you have had your moneys worth. the other way is pay another payserver maybe which is risky at best not to mention 80% of them are dodgy barstewards or get a sea-lion off a m8 if your lucky to know one who hosts a server. theres still a very good choice of channels in fta and with softcam/b.i.s.s keys with footy, movies, kids, xxx, discovery type, music and more when used with a motorised dish and a spiderbox is all down to what you want and how much cash you want to spend, regards mdt

Yes if you look at it that way it works out at over a six weeks of viewing several 100 channels for the cost of two pints of beer, or put another way a pack of cigarettes would pay for two months of viewing.
Come on £50 a year is a liberty? no I dont agree with you it's excellent value for money, BUT you dont have to pay a penny just watch all those free to air channels, all those really good? soaps and you can even watch the repeats later the same day.
Free TV is a myth, you get what you PAY for and I'm happy to donate £50 a year for what I get.
But all members should remember it's your Spiderbox and YOU choose what you want to watch if your happy with FTA and softcam channels then enjoy them, if your not then feel free to explore just what your Spiderbox CAN do and it's an awful lot more than FTA and softcam can provide.

Is there anyway Jimi we can get a idea of what's on offer with this patch as it might give members s better insight as to what the £50 covers in terms if channels

Re: Paches

Found this, dated October 2012, but I've no idea of what is open ATM as info is hard to find (it seems)

"Some of the packages with some channels opening include Sky Germany, Nova Greece, Cyfra+, SCT, Tivusat, RCS DigiTV, SRG, Can***** France, D+ Spain, BIS, N (polish), Polsat, JSC. ADD (Nilesat), Digiturk 7.0E, YES (Amos), NTV & Tricolour (Eutelsat W4) and OSN on Yahsat"

Were all free to do it any way we want to it's our choice.
As for paying any provider £30 a month thats £360 a year I'm sure that many of our members simply could not pay that and anyway the provider you mention is only one provider whereas the patch covers many providers but not the one you mention.
You seem to have a down on that forum and the software if you've not tried it I cant understand where your comments are coming from, still if you dont want to use that patch no ones twisting your arm to do so.
I've been using it since it's release and am very happy with it.

If your saying that you have installed the vasiks patch but have not applied for the VIP membership then you wont have received the free key to enable the patch.
My advice to you is to reinstall the Spiderbox March 2012 patch AND the softcam, this will open some channels for you but the vasiks patch without the key will not.
Without the key you are wasting your time.

To sum up use the vasiks patch and donate the £50 to get a key OR
revert to the Spiderbox March 2012 patch and use the softcam, you simply cannot "half and half" you must do one OR the other.

Hi, considering getting the vasiks patch but just wondering. Does the spiderbox need to be connected to broadband through an Ethernet cable all the time for it to work?

Yes in order for the patch to work an internet connection is required but note the amount of internet usage is minimal, when the Spiderbox receivers were released
I worked it out at 1.5GB a year.
