:grayno: doing full rescan of sats 30w to 42e , all ok from 30w down to 13e i then noticed no other chans. appearing in chan list, even though signal/quality levels ok, i then tried manually and auto navigation. tried many times on all sats from 16e to 39e, no chanels would appear (i have back-up on usb) any ideas wots not right?? i look again tommo after work. love to all, tm

was your motor defo moving mate as i have this problem as the motor gets stuck in between or on a satellite then obviously you dont get anything on any other sat as its not moved - ive been told its a firmware/phantom issue

Hi Timelord,

manic01 is quite right mate... there's a memory threshold on the amount of TP's and channels the receiver can store... and once you have reached this threshold... nothing new will be downloaded/stored on your receiver...

I very rarely store any Radio channels on my receiver/cndf file... they take up too much of the available memory...

Try deleting all/all non-essential Radio channels from your receiver/cndf file... then set Search Type/Mode to TV Only and try scanning again...

I hope this helps...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Hi again Timelord,

Open your current .cndf file in NDFEdit 1.66... then look at the top blue bar of the editor... this will tell you...

1/ The date and time the the file was created
2/ The type of file
3/ The name of the editor
4/ Sometimes states (Modified) ~ I haven't figured out why yet...
5/ The total amount of Satellite Positions available (N)
6/ The amount of Transponders that are currently stored (T)
7/ The amount of TV Channels that are currently stored (P)
8/ The amount of Radio Channels that are currently stored (F)

I am currently very close to the Transponder threshold (maximum) so if I show you what my .cndf file states on the top blue bar of the editor... it might give you some idea as to where the threshold lies...

20120813-105753.CNDF - NDFEdit : N (64) T (2373) P (8041) F (16)

I hope this helps...

Zorch

OK peeps i rebooted s/w 123, then got brave and turned off diseq 1.2 and turned on usals rescanned all seems ok, but for a small minor inconvenience, now a bit of sat bleed over ie; some chans from 28.2 populate 26e, i will delete some tp's and see wot i find, i'm looking for a sat/tp/chan editor that is easy to use (not pc savvy) on mac, many thanks for tips/hints, tl

If your getting Bleed over it means your dish is slightly out of alignment and i do mean slightly you maybe wise to use Diseqc 1.2 for 26° east at first and nudge until no bleed exists do a scan once done return to USALS again

cheers digi, i did think this was the solution, and have read on here (DW) that usals is very unforgiving, i wiil take your advice and let you know how it pans out. Oh dear, i may have to wait an hour or so cos wifey wants me to stop scanning and actually watch a programme, i dont know :sleep: thanks again, tl

ahah my mrs is the same she usually says "oh not this bloody thing again" as the Blind Search screen starts going - one thing i do is go to a satellite and make sure a channel opens THEN i go do the scan and everything works fine across the board - at least on mine it seems to be if its asked to do anything whilst its changing satellite then it gives up until you open a channel again somewhere

Hi again badman56,

ahah my mrs is the same she usually says "oh not this bloody thing again" as the Blind Search screen starts going...

I think you will find that most of us (satellite enthusiasts/obsessives on the forum) have our own little private hide-away where we perpetuate our hobby... a lot of us realised (a long time ago) that the best thing we could do was to keep this kind of stuff away from the main TV set in the house... and to beat a comfortable retreat to somewhere away from all the discerning voices... :RABBIT:

I hope this helps...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

Off main subject but on current theme. One of the good points of the TM so user friendly. My Mrs and electronic equipment dont mix but she can happily use the Tm, Watch her programs, Record, Play back recordings ( She would be happier if it had a 7 Day Epg she could use). In fact the TM is basically a great receiver and is well made. Has the the odd capacitor failure on the power supply. This applies to this sort of power supply in general. And also depends on enviroment ( confined in cabinet under TV etc). This is why it so frustrating for us TM owners ( Also not doing Technomate much good) that the firmware situation is letting us down at the moment.

TM 6900 super HD Combo.

I have noticed this with the 5402 it does not like it when you are on a channel on one satellite and then switch to another on a different sat and then halfway through change to another channel on the satellite it is heading for it seems to come up with the dreaded no or bad signal, Most of the time i think its due to changing from a 'H' TP to a 'V' TP which means voltage switching comes into play so while trying to provide power to drive the motor its also trying to switch between 13v and 18v. Too much of a task for the receiver if you ask me thats why when you change sat just stick to the channel you chose in the first place and change it when your actually there.

thanks for the advice guys - well part of the deal to get this in the first place was that we can cancel sky and she can still have all the channels she loves (Comedy Central. Dave etc) ...unfortunately as Ive learnt more about all this, that wont be possible will it unless i go a different route...i am just ecstatic today that ive favourited/got working a load of channels that broadcast premiership games live so thats one challenge down.. now ive got to work out the best way of getting this 5402 near our wifi box so i can connect it to the web and learn something else new ... considering homeplugs as a solution but they seem too good to be true

Why not just make the 5402 wireless with a vonets or a tenda wireless bridge, or have you not got an old wireless router hanging around anywhere
