chaps,

Got me self a DynDNS account and have successfully set it up, DNS on my router updates it's fine and when i type the address in IE then i get to the config page of PLI-Jade, in the streaming instructions it says that i should get to the user name and log in page? but i just get straight to the web interface....so of course won't be able to give the link out as people will just be able to log into the web config page etc....

cheers
You should be prompted for the UN (root) and PW (dreambox). Also, try using your ftp program to connect to your DB using the DNS address if you have forwarded port 21. NOTE it is advisable to change the password as anyone with your server details can log in to the web page or ftp.

been trying all day to try and get VLC working, i am right in thinking that i have to forward ports 8080 (stream) and 21 (ftp) and then 80 (http) i just can't get VLC to work, i was reading another tut and they say forward 8080 to the ip of the machine that will be running the VLC server which is conflicting ? i've stuck to one tut though and not getting any further...

Any ideas? is VLC the only thing that i can use for streaming from my dream?

Not my work and I am going to try this one day lol :) but I have read that this proggy is the one to use.

Managed to get dream view working and that streaming to server but VLC will just not work - it says copy the stream data from dream view and then paste that into VLC and do a few settings and then blah blah the link that you create should when clicked on it allow you to send the link to your friends.

So thanks buddy will give this a go the night.

Well installed and it didn't work on Windows 7, so have dual boot so when i get home the night will try XP and see if i can get it working...

Not too sure what you are trying to stream but if you have a decent enough pc you should be able to stream from web interface to WMP11, it works perfectly even with encrypted HD channels. just make sure on web interface in the now playing section you will need to click "stream to external player" or something like that.

i am trying to stream my dream to the net, i have web-x tv on the main PLI-Jade image.....i dont or can't see stream to external player?

On Dream Elite Web Interface, near the top of the page it tells you which channel you are watching, next to this there should be two options, one for the epg info and another that looks like a tv which will be stream to player. click on this and it should download a file stream.m3u, open this file with windows media player 11 and wait a couple of seconds for it to buffer,
all should be ok after this. if not i can help you out later when i get home.

still can't find it buddy, under the main screen i see this..(left screen shot)

and under stream i get the following......(right hand jpg screen shot)

Will have to install pli on my usb stick later to test out for you, have you tried updating the webinterface by using an ipk package, i will try to find the latest one for you later.

no i haven't mate, didn't know i could....if you could mate that be class as been trying for a few days and that now to get it working, even downloaded and installed a PHP server on the lap top to try a different way to stream but just not getting my head around it...lol i know PHP a little and that but VLC just seems to be the one that i can't quite work out....lol some conflicting info and that on the tuts and some stuff not explained very well for the n00b...lol

I know what you mean, webinterface functions and stability varies with different builds as well. If you have a spare usb stick i would try installing MeoBoot onto it and then looking at either DreamElite or Newenigma image as theese are updated much more frequently and to my knowledge Pli has not been updated for a while and may be missing some functions that you require.
Will still try the testing later and let you know early tomorrow.

One more thing i just remembered, i only ever had streaming working with VLC 0.86, you should be able to find it on the web. I will also test the new build of VLC tonight as there was a new release about a week ago (GPU Decoding!)

This is why it will be different, i have a 800 but i have used to have a 500 and had no problems streaming.

Check this link out, i think you will want dreambox player 4 for E1 boxes.

mfaraj - Tunisiasat dreambox player and webstreamer

Hope this helps.

yeah got that working matey thanks, just going to dive on the router and check the ports that i have open and are correct, but it's after that when i select streaming that it's the VLC settings that i can't get it to connect, i have 2 networks here so was streaming from one network and it's own modem and then connecting to the other network/modem and trying VLC so it's like some one else on the net trying to watch my stream.....

i have a dydns set up and have that connected in my router and the connection is fine.....as it give me an OK when i check it and my router updates the dns....in VLC when i click on play network stream i've been putting my dns address in there... http://mynamehere.kicks-ass.net but not getting any where....mmmm gonna retry.....think i might need a port number after it? getting confusing now lol...

followed the settings guide that tells you to forward ports 1234 and 5678 to your pc which i've done and then port 80 to the dream, and then the dns which i've done when i select stream it just says "stream encoding has stopped"

# Service Name.....Start Port......End Port.....Server IP Address
1 dreamstream.....1234..............1234..............192.168.1.30
2 HTTP...............8080..............8080..............192.168.1.7
3 dream..............5678..............5678..............192.168.1.30
4 dreamst...........8080...............080...............192.168.1.30
