help please

i had a Wii modded about a month ago, when it came back i threw a few backups and originals into it to test it out, and all was fine, so it went in the cupboard readx for an xmas surprise

today i thought, oh shit, its still got all the previous owners saves etc on it, so i connected it up to factory reset everything

when i turn it on i just get a black screen, it takes and spits out discs, but thats it

any ideas peeps?

i think you need a game cube controller an original game with an update on it
put the game cube controoler in port 4 and hold down the left right up and down buttons on the d pad alll at the same time its easyer to open controller then power on with disc in and it should update, there is a tut some where on here

Hi everyone,

I got this problem last week with my Wii.

These are the symptoms:
- Red light shows up when plugged in (tv displays the message "no signal")
- When turned on it switches to the green light, and then the tv shows a black screen. no health & safety screen whatsoever. Nothing appears on screen (not even a message with an error code)
- DVD-drive is still working (it still ejects and it still lights up)
- Shutting down the Wii is still possible with holding down the power button
- WiiMotes weren't synced anymore. Resyncing doesn't work either. (Wiimotes are still detectable with my cell phone though)

Here are the things I've tried:
- clearing all the syncs by holding the sync button for at least 15 seconds
- removing the batteries of the wiimotes for a few hours
- removing the battery of the Wii for a few hours
- removing all the cables of the Wii for a few hours

What chip has it got in it? Have you done any system updates on it?

i wonder if factory reset had anything to do with it?

if the region was changed or something beforehand .. a factory reset could cause a brick? just a thought.

the chip is a Wii-key

when i had it back after being chipped i tested a few games in it, then put it away

there has been no updates or anything since then

this morning i was going to do a factory reset on it, but couldnt as was just faced with a black screen as mentioned above

ive even taken it apart and completley removed the drive in case something with the chip was causing it, but still the same

this happend to a mate when he updaed useing mario cart i tryed everything to sort it. game cube controller, hours on google nothing worked in the end had to take it back to game and get new one hope this is not the case for you mate. but if it is and is under warranty get back and exchange as all supliers are running out of stoke

im off to gamestation in merthyr tydfil now to be relieved of 180 notes for another one

would anyone recommend the softmod route for this? or would i be best just leaving it? its for my 10 year old girl

maybe ignore the comment about region free, i just put all the options on in the end

copied the 2 3.2E wad files to SD card, and used wad manager to install them, now gone from 3.3 to 3.2, then installed the star thing, but now when i try a game through the backup channel it says DVD error

what must i do now please?

ive been stressing over this since 7am lol

reinstall cios_249.wad

if it dont work we'll sort it, would have been better as you were on 3.3e to use Cios Downgrader to do the job, not the wads.
