is it me or are fried eggs such a pain in the backside!?!?

i can make all other sorts of eggs (scrabbled, poached, boiled, etc) eyes closed, but ive never cooked one decent fried egg!! i was just wondering if anyone else has had this difficulty as everyone else around seems to do it easily!!

Plenty of oil. Also for the perfect boilt egg get some tidy clingfilm, place over a cup, pop egg into it and wrap top up so its seled in an airtight parcel. Pop into boiling water and cook as norm.
turn out perfect everytime and no need to wash up saucepan.

you would do better asking the female members m8
afterall its part of there job ,this cooking thing.lol

lmao, gonna have some stick for that!

@bilabonic, will have to give that a go! cheers.

well after years of trying...and leaving it too the mrs lol.this is my solution you need a good non-stick frying pan,put enough oil in to cook the egg but don't over do it,you need a low light to start off with..and little bit of advice crack the egg in a cup before you put it in pan that way you know if it's broken or not.once the white is cooked use a spatula to push the oil over the top of the egg until the yoke turns white..then whip it out and tuck in...works for me.m8..

Unlike Bilabonic I would say not too much oil.

The oil needs to be heated first before breaking the egg into it. Then really it cooks itself. You can tilt the pan slightly and spoon some of the oil over the yolk until it gets a white film over it.

Better not to cook too fast.

cheers, will give this a go, but will probably get someone else to eat it LOL

I like to fry eggs in fat that has been used for frying bacon/sausage/whatever beforehand. Much more flavour.

That's what I do, do your bacon first.
Also I use a small non stick pan, tilt it so the egg doesn't run everywhere and put the lid off a saucepan over it.
This stops fat spitting everywhere and the trapped steam cooks the top of the egg.

I feel hungry now.......................

Right this is how to do a perfect fried egg

1 dont be scared of the egg

2 small amount of oil let the oil heat up not too hot, low heat. gas mark 1 or 2

3 crack the egg side of the pan keep it low to base of pan.

4 just leave it now minute minute and half

5 good spatula/fishslice scoop under and flick over keeping low

6 twenty seconds, thirty tops scoop again and flick over onto plate

7 enjoy.

dont get me started on poached, scrambled, boiled lol

i cant believe someone cant fry an egg, lol

its a piece of pi55

heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a non stick frying pan .

add a knob of butter.

dont have oil too hot i.e. smoking.

crack open the egg and put into pan.

turn heat down slightly.

tilt pan and keep splashing the oil over the top of the egg ( or when the bottom is cooked you could put under the grill till the tops done.

be carefull when lifting the egg with a fish slice not to break the egg.

put the egg on top of a slice of fried bread and break the egg, let the yolk run all over the fried bread . yummy.

if you like tomato sauce , pour some of that on top.
