Got My dreambox 500C! couple of Q?

i got my dreambox 2 day

its fookin SMALL...lol

ok i read some of the guides and im bit stuck

i would like to know whats the best image i think there are a few out there
(needs to be fairly easy to setup and look good and have most features and reliable)

erm i want to flash it using a null modem cable

i downloaded dream up so just wating to decide which image is the best to put on

and im in teeside area pure NTL

is there a Buqet or somthing for teeside?

and if i have so called "freezing" and i stick a nthell equliser on the line just before it goes into dreambox would that sort it ? (6db equaliser)?

and were do i find the image to put on?

hi mate most images are ok for this area gemini ok for me enigma ok as well but for teesside area i found i needed the booster to get my boxs running fine i got the booster from argos the slx version it was about a fiver works a treat with my box and most images scan and run ok my booster is very much like this one there a few in argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5344235.htm

downloads section here - either gemini 3.3 or the newest neutrino. You will need a crossover also. If its your first time use and you want ease of use neutrino ;-) Pick 6887 when scanning and you are ready to watch tv...

what about the Dw image or than new 1 posted a feew days back?

can't i flash the images with nullmodem cable??

If you only have a null modem cable you will need to use Dreamup to flash an image. Only images ending in .img can be used with this method.

See Guide sticky at top of dreambox section for a guide or there are some in the download section.

Images act differently with each box and different levels of signal so try one and if it's good, it's good. If it freezes and hangs up, try another.

ok got DW 1.6 image on

its scanning

snr is 43%

agc is 99%

is this ok or do i need a booster

im using a spliter so my line is split 4 way

2 connected to modems

1 to sammy

1 to dreambox

the values while scanning don't mean much.
I have a 4 way splitter fed by a 2 way splitter and I don't need a booster it's all the luck of the draw.
mine goes

-------cc box on main tv
feed -----
------4 way splitter


-------my dream (or dbox)
-------cable modem
4 way----
-------bedroom 1 dbox nokia
-------bedroom 2 dbox sagem


I use a booster if i use my dbox but not with my dream on the same feed.

but my other EV2 and sammy work perfect

the signal in eng menu is 37.5db

so if i do need a booster could u give me a link to the 1 i need?

can i jsut put the booster before the dreambox only?

and what about those equalisers or attenuators wich the cc give could i use them?

im gonna take it to my friends house to see if it gets any channels there

if the signal is still the same i could assume the tuner is gone?

ok i found out how to get in the menu to change active tuners

so i changed it to old

and now scanning 6887 and im gettin different values for snr agc and ber

before ber was zero!

so gonna wait and see if it picks anything up now

could it just be that my box has a old tuner

If you have any doubt that it's a faulty box, send dvb an email and they will take it back. If they confirm it's faulty they will send you a new one.

It's possible that it has on old tuner but most of the boxes that come now have new tuners.
