Win 10 windows 10

Yes I downloaded the Windows 10 Insider Preview (x86) - Build 10162 this morning for an old laptop.

But I think the Prerelease keys will no longer work to activate builds

(I'm not sure)

Gabe Aul,
“We’re suspending the availability of Windows 10 builds briefly while we prepare for that, and the next build that we flight to you will be delivered using the production channels. Starting tomorrow, we will also not be delivering any additional ISOs at this point as we really need Insiders to be using, stressing, and validating our distribution and upgrade processes,”

Upcoming Windows 10 Insider build will be from RTM development branch "TH1"

For those who don't know, Microsoft has been distributing a number of their Windows 10 builds via the "fbl_impressive" development branch, a branch created solely for Insiders and allows Microsoft to control what features are sent to the public for testing. There are many development branches which all focus on different things, however none of them are accessible by Windows Insiders.

Microsoft announced yesterday that they were suspending Windows Update and Windows 10 Insider builds as they prepare for the Windows 10 RTM. The next build offered to Windows Insiders will be using production servers, which means the next build we receive could very well be the Windows 10 RTM, or at the very least an RTM candidate, depending on when Microsoft plans to push another build out.

Microsoft has silently switched all Windows Insiders away from the fbl_impressive branch, and moved them over to the TH1 branch. The TH1 branch is where Microsoft is compiling RTM candidates, which means the next build delivered to Insiders can be nothing but an RTM candidate or the RTM itself. You can check to see if Microsoft has moved you over to TH1 by opening Regedit and navigating to HKLM>SOFTWARE>Microsoft>WindowsSelfHost>Applicability and double clicking "BranchName". If you see "TH1" you are ready for the next build.

If you're not showing up as on TH1, just check for updates via Windows Update and the registry strings should update automatically.

Gabriel Aul, confirmed yesterday that a new Windows 10 build is coming, but no other specifics were provided, especially because the company pulled the current builds and ISOs in anticipation of the eagerly-awaited RTM.

But now it seems that the company has silently moved all Windows Insiders to a new branch named TH1, which is none other than the one used for testing RTM candidates, which could be a sign that the next release for users participating to the testing program will be a big one.

Thanks Idrob,

I have just checked the regedit and yep all set on TH1.

Now just to sit and wait in anticipation on the next move :)

Download Windows 10 RTM Build 10240 Unofficial ISOs for Clean Install

Microsoft has finalized work on Windows 10 and the new operating system has been pushed to RTM, meaning that OEMs can finally start pre-installing it on their devices ahead of the big launch on July 29.

Download Windows 10 build 10240 x64 ISO

Windows 10 build 10240, the watermark has evaporated

One of the first things you will notice about this release is that the watermark is no longer on this build. Microsoft is now using the retail channel for delivering this update which means that they need to remove the watermark from the build as well. This is the same path that Microsoft will use to push the OS to consumers starting on July 29th.

Besides the watermark, there is not much else new in this release. Microsoft has updated Edge to improve the performance of the browser.

Gabriel Aul @gabeAul
@timWesterhoff98 We've removed ISOs and keys. At this point there isn't a supported clean install path. Just upgrades from here until 7/29.

Apparently if you want to activate a clean install of build 10240 this method seems to be working

Didn’t try it myself.

From Admin Command Prompt:

1. slmgr /ipk W269N-WFGWX-YVC9B-4J6C9-T83GX
2. slmgr /skms kms.xspace.in
3. slmgr /ato

Supprised its taken so long for M/soft to ditch the dvd, in my experiance dvd's are a very poor way to save software, you get so many errors unless the media is kept in pristine condition where cd's are ok even knocking about in the boot of the car.

Most software i use as i travel around to customers gets dumped to a bootable usb stick and dvd is more of a backup.

Lol, yes all received. Not long after yourself I think.

Minor changes but still Ihave the issue with the edge browser. Surely if they are plugging it then makes sense to allow imports from other browsers. I really don't understand why this has not happened yet.

Microsoft commits to 10-year support lifecycle for Windows 10

It's been a bad week for conspiracy theorists. As the Windows 10 launch nears, Microsoft is clearing up loose ends. Today's announcement of a 10-year support commitment for Windows 10 should remove one persistent bit of FUD from the discussion

10-year support lifecycle for Windows 10

I was just wondering how many of us will still be here in 10 years.

Not on this forum but here on earth
