question about the downloads section.

Win 8.1 Pro x32

iso 2.53gb created with MediaCreationTool

with windows 8 / 8.1 I couldn't get my laptop to instal windows 8.1 directly.

in order for it to activate properly, i had to instal windows 8 followed by endless updates before it would allow updating to 8.1
@rawsy are you saying you can create a windows 8.1 image which will instal on a native win 8 machine?
sorry i dont know anything about windws 8 im talking about al of the different flavours of windows 7 with all of the updates.

I think we should give this a go then :)
@rawsy

How would i set out the downloads section to trial it?

Something like this

- Operating Systems
-- Windows
--- Windows 8
--- Windows 7
--- Windows XP
--- Windows Vista
--- Windows Legacy
-- Linux

or would that all be to complicated and just something like this

- Operating Systems
-- Windows
-- Other

Hi Mick, sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner I was at work. I have just tried to upload the 32 bit version but the file size is too big. the file is 3.1gb zipped. can you make the fie size limit bigger? or is there a way I could add multiple files and just use winrar to split the image in to a few files?

I only have the 32 bit version at the mo but I will do the 64 bit version also at some point. it takes a while to download and integrate everything.

Please note I haven't done anything special with the image I just downloaded all the updates integrated them in to windows 7 32bit useing rt7 lite config tool and then deleted the ei.cfg file that controls the version of windows. I did it as the updates take forever after a fresh install so thought I would save myself some time, I then thought I would try and save everyone else some time too.

Give me an hour I will set it up for 4gb files, I was just testing it out yesterday...

There are some small issues I need to work on but I can make it work :)

Mick

@rawsy

That should be done now...

Rars / Zips / Iso

These are all set to a maximum of 4GB

All other extensions are 150mb :)

Cheers

On my computer when I click manage attachments it’s a little off the screen like it needs aligning, or is this not related to what you are doing?

No mate, that is not the downloads section... That is the forum upload management.

I will look at that though in the next few days see why it's like that :)

Cheers

@rawsy, I am so sorry!

I did not update all the file types as I was in a rush out this morning...

Let me try a 3GB file to test to save you time!

Some consolation... The good news is it does not timeout its just a basic error that stopped it from storing the file.

2% of 3.4GB (going to take a while :()

Mick

@rawsy, you can try it mate.

But I closed the tab by accident about 20 minutes ago with 90% left!!!!!

I spoke with rat and will be trying to implement a pause/resume/chunked file upload into the downloads.

Just wont be able to do that within the next few days as now flat out until friday with work commitments.

We will get it sorted!

Regards
Mick
