Anyone got the Chinese VU+ Solo2

LOL! I tore my box apart as soon as my Cypress board arrived yesterday.
My motherboard has a little sticker that shows April 2014. There are no other identifying features - Nothing marked Lorinsun, X or anything else. Just the fact that the CI chip is on a little daughter card, as previously mentioned and clarified by yourself.

Thanks, I will check out this thread. Mine is also April 2014, I had the month wrong, it was DW boards manufactured after 20. march that can be fixed after a mistaken security chip update. It can also be used to identify the board. But be careful, its all in Chinese and no idea what it actually does.

Is your board working now after the Jtag? If not is it just en empty display or does it say "starting" or "H/W error" ?

It's still bricked.
Odd because I know 100% that BBS is flashing the chip. I've tried all the bootloaders I can find the Lonrisun (and the one on the vu-hd site are identical), and a Dragonworth one I found on the German DigitalElite forum. The Vu+ updater you mentioned works on my box regardless of which bootloader is currently on the flash, but I haven't a clue what the buttons do so I'll leave well alone for now! Putty / RS232 shows a bootloop of 73460012 (which is the opening line of the bootup sequence), but only if I'm running the Lonrisun / vu-hd bootloader.
That's about as far as I've got today.
I'm really reluctant to do the chip change just yet, as I would love to find a software solution first, if at all possible.

i was considering buying one of those but i thing i will hold myself a little bit more or go for original since they still not fixing the attack..

The Solo2 SE seems to be pretty solid from what I can gather. There's a member on here called lombard that's been trying to brick his SE, but it just keeps going!

If the front VFD display isn't vital to you, it might be worth considering, plus they're about $100 shipped from China, which is only about £60, so pretty good value I reckon.

Might get one myself and sell my Solo2 once it's fixed.

hello. i have clone from china just get delivered and im scare connected (solo2 clone) to network and to aeriel due to read problem with time bomb.can somebody explain if possible check what date are drivers in my solo2 clone? if i make connection to network will be driver starting updating it self?i dont wanna get my brand new clone solo2 failed

I would hope it should be okay mate and have a modded image on it already..the only way to find out is connect to tv without sat line in and see what comes on mate..There are a few clone safe images on here plus from the VU-HD site.
If you are really unsure then download a clone safe image and flash box first...you need to make sure your image is correct for box..do you have sunray solo2? if not use a upto date image from vu-hd site.

There are normally a few uk sellers on flea bay and the odd one on Ramazon

Thats what is supposed to be able to happen but not seen one instant when someone has been able to recover box this way.I may be wrong but i have only read of problems that users can not connect to box via serial port
Once again the china sellers have conned people into this sort of thinking so they will buy the box.
