Hiya, been helping a friend with his twin now since he got, he kept having alot of problems, box shuting off, restarting for no reason, bad glitching, i always put it down to the software , iq and 4d images, updated it for him when vix came out but hes still having the same issues, so im beginning to think its something else but cant figure out what, hes had a couple of green screens, where it says software has crashed etc, had the box completey restart just on its own when watching tv, its locked up a few times where the vix logo in left hand corner appears and only way to get out of it is on off at back, and hes getting alot of glitching on fta channels, i pdated the image and bootloaders as instructed, pressing exit button after during boot up, flashing both bootloader and image twice, he got the twin when they were released so had it a while now, so had numerous images on it etc, so wondering if theres a bad bug stuck somewhere that isnt getting deleted properly or something like that, i really dont know and cant figure it out for him, anyone got any ideas what i can try out to help solve the problem ? Thanks

Watch me get shot down in flames here but imo the vix image is very unstable. Since flashing the first image ive been plagued with motor issues, black screens and an unbelievable amount of crashes and lock ups you would not believe. And i am upgrading each time they release a new build. Not what i was expecting from a team held in such high regard if im honest.

Im not slagging them off as i know there are other issues they have had to over come ie drivers etc. But we were constantly told that they would not release the image until it was stable and in my opinion it is far from stable, however im sure it will get there.

My wife said to me yesterday "I don't know what you have done to this receiver but it's worse than ever" Which says it all as all she uses it for is to watch her programs.

So in answer to your post your not alone with the issues your having and if using the vix images your just going to have to sit tight till they iron out the bugs. Or roll back to a stable IQ image and loose out on some of the features until the vix image is stable.

I'm not trying to shoot you down but I have had to answer some of your points

Answering the bit in red

Even the openvix team cannot make a silk purse out of a pigs ear.

Once again the bit in red.
I am sure that they would not have released an image for this box if one hadn't been posted without their permission with openvix written all over it.

I'm surprised that you have questioned why the released the images when you know full well that they were pushed into a corner and had to release something.

Technomate have a history of releasing e1 and e2 boxes with buggy software tm500, tm600, tm800hd and now the tmtwin.

As a possible solution to the op have you tried none e2 mode as everything works there and I have found it to be very stable though not as flexible as e2 but it does allow you to watch tv.

Personally I dont agree that VIX were forced to release an image...was there not a previous leaked image prior to the more recent leak as well ? If the image wasnt ready, unstable or unadequately tested it shouldnt have got released...VIX have only got themselves to blame if they knowlingly released a buggy image, theres no pressure on them as they dont recieve any payment from TM their not obilged to contractual release deadlines etc..
Maybe given time it will improve with future builds...maybe the hardware drivers are still rubbish, who knows... It's typical TM .. Nothing to see here .. What is worrying though is the comments that the VIX image is less stable and the UR/IQ image..if true that is would be embarrasing...

ViX stated, during 'leakgate', and after it, that 1: they would not release an image untill it was ready, tested and stable, and 2: when they did release it, they stated, here on DW, that their release had NOTHING to do with ANY of the previous 'leaks', and that they were not backed into a corner and forced to do anything

i have returned a twin with these exact issues to TM for them to look at

Iv got a TWIN with VIX and hasnt crashed once, no black screens my only complaint is the fan is loud but, the issues could be down to certain batches. Keep in mind though im on fixed dish with no motor for switching etc.

Hiya, can you keep us posted digi on what technomate find or do to yours please mate, also if using in non e2 mode can you still record things and get a epg etc ? How do you go about getting it into non e2 mode ? Thanks

for non E2 mode, turn the power off, turn it back on, and for the first 10 seconds of it booting, repeatedly press MENU on the receiver (not on the remote)

there is no 7 day epg afaik in this mode though

i wont be getting the twin i sent them back, but i will ask for details of what they find wrong with it

You cannot rule out hardware issues. I had to return a unit because the network kept dropping out.

F1Mad pointed out that there was a component on the PSU which was burnt. He had HDD issues which disappeared after TM swapped his PSU. My one also has this browning, although all is well at the moment. If there are issues with power supply, then all sorts of random things can happen.

The surest thing is to enable debug logs which can be sent to the image developers for fixing. Anyone with a problematic receiver can also use the RS232 log tool which will record all the workings. Downside, is that a PC/laptop is required to be near the receiver. The beauty of the forum is notes can be shared and common issues can be identified and hopefully addressed.

TM are working on the release of their newer receivers. If you qualify for a refund/repair, don't wait too long.

I have not had any major issues with the receiver recently.

Abu m8 I repsect your views :) but surely after TM 500 TM 600 TM 800HD TM twin and the TM2T is on sale if you look for it or even ring TM HQ for one the developers are IQ with trickie yanking the chain nothing will ever get done.

Firstly sorry for my late reply my lad was taken into hospital with suspected meningitis so ive had more important things to worry about.

Secondly in reply to ellie i don't go in for all the cloak and dagger conspiracy rubbish that exists in the sat world im simply not interested in it. Vix released a statement over on their forum explaining everything so i do not believe they were pressured into releasing an image at all and doing so would only be damaging to their reputation.

Most of my crash logs have been sent to vix and they are fixing issues in new builds so ive been told, also i have enabled debug logs and have been sending them over. These are to do with my black screen and lock up issues.

I was simply telling the op he was not alone and that even with the vix image the twin is far from what i would want in terms of stability. That is only my opinion.

ive just uploaded the latest build 378 to the download section m8 (waiting for it to be approved atm)

instead of updating online, which keeps settings etc, flash this latest one via USB, and see if that solves it for you

sargie, are you using Cccam 2.3.0 by any chance m8?

No m8 im on 2.1.4 which is rock solid all day. This problem of the black screen and lock up issue is mainly on boot up from deep stand by. Although ive had it happen once or twice at radndom.

hiya, any news on that twin you sent back digi ?

hiya, any news on that twin you sent back digi ?

when it was in the customers house, it was randomly rebooting, and would lock up with the spinner going. i had flashed, reflashed, fallowed ABC right through untill XYZ, formatted the brand new HDD, and tried with and without usb for EPG and picons.

the guy isnt a forum user, so wasnt just trying his luck for a new box etc

after i changed the box for him, in my house i plugged it in, it booted to 49%, where it just hung with the spinner onscreen, so i flashed with the latest image to erase any details on it, and returned it

when TM received it back, they re installed an image, using the exact same steps that i used (that they recommend) and could find no problems, and it was sold on after a week of solid running

i setup my twin in my missus house, and now in my living room, with PTS running and a few other things, now normally, my receivers dont have lids on them cos im always messing with them, but, after a week of use, ive disconnected the fan as it sounds like the bearing is going in it or something, but, i know quite a few have mentioned this
