Replacement...

Selling price for twin is now £329.99

So you are supposedly getting £80

TM800 is now £130

I've tried 3 times to selling on eBay twice it didn't sell and once buyer backed out

So retail price is increased from original quoted 299 to 329 same price as an orignal VU DUO... 80 quid for an old TM800 isnt too bad I suppose for recent buyers who paid 130 , theyre still loosing 50 quid though. But for those who paid 250 it's a kick in the teeth....then again they had plenty of time to take up TM's refund offer while it was going.

I'm sorry was on the phone when I posted the TM800 is £139

yes the retail price has increased form £299 to £329 for the twin

here is the statement from TM (I think) that they knew would get on here eventually lol

:roflmao: Well that's DigiDude's chance gone up in smoke then. Although I think he knows that as he's unwrapping any new shiny toy.

some people may of chucked the sata cable too as not everyone has space to keep boxes

no mention of people that bought wifi cards with the TM800 either ;)

what I mean though Dude is putting it another way
what other E2 boxes are stuck on 2.2 Cool TV Guide because of theis python error ?

None that I'm aware of, but I'm sure Digi will soon put us straight

as far as im aware, its only the TM800 thast is stuck on version 2.2.2 as the latest working version. i looked into how python compiling works in quite a lot of detail when version 3.0 of coolmans epg first came out, to see why it wouldnt work. python is able to compile from scripts, as long as the script is available. if the script is not available, then it can only run the compiled version of the script, along with the version of python that compiled it

as the tm800 has gone so long without having any proper updates, its still on an older version of python, whereas the coolepg is now compiled under a newer version, coolman only releases the compiled scripts, so itll only work with newer versions on updated images

its hard to say yes the tm800 is to blame, its also hard to say coolman is to blame, its a mixture of both

Just out of interest, is there any need to go higher than 2.2 - do they really provide anything new or needed?

since trying newer versions, i personally have not bothered with coolepg, as so much extras have been added that i feel are unneeded, that ive found that enigmas graphicalmultiepg can be configured to work in the same way as V2.2.2, so i dont use any external plugin for displaying the epg any more

:roflmao: Well that's DigiDude's chance gone up in smoke then. Although I think he knows that as he's unwrapping any new shiny toy.

when the DM800 very first came out, i had one within about 2 weeks of release, and within 48 hours of owning it, had already drilled holes in it, had a mini grinder onto it, soldered things to it, as it says in red below............. :proud:

So to be fair what CoolMan is doing is keeping up with the times and compiling within the latest python ?
and the TM800 isnt compatible with the latest python ?

yes, but, at a price. it means that anyone who wants to use his latest versions MUST also update the image on their receivers, his latest version of coolEPG wont work on my Vu+ Duo as i have an older image on it, i like the older image, as it works for what i want it to do (if it aint broke and all that, lol). If he included the source files (like PLi do with their plugins, i also do with the few ive made) then this would ensure that any version of the plugin would work on any receiver running any image

TM800 isnt compatible with the latest python ?

Nope, the UR team did attempt to implement a newer version of python, which broke more than it fixed (theres unusual for them lmao) then abandoned the TM800 like rats from a sinking ship, leaving the owners to find their own solutions

ive since heard rumours that the head of the UR team was italian..................(bad taste i know, but c'mon......lol)

(if it aint broke and all that, lol

When did that ever stop you Digi m8... HAHA..

Thanks for all the suggestions guys.

I'm staying with the 800. I've just moved from the WOS image to the latest DW image by Digi and i have to say, things are alot more stable. Fewer hangs on HD (which causes it to go out of sync) and the latest coolepg.

@Digi, when you say you can configure multiepg to be the same as coolepg... do you mean i can get the multi channel, current, now, later style view ? That's all i really care about..

Edit : OK.. so i'm a bit of an idiot.. I've never looked at the graphical multi epg before.. Is there anyway to have more channels on the screen rather than the default 6? Also, is there any way to map the EPG button on the remote to open GraphMultiEPG by default?

while in graphical epg press blue and you can configure it in there
although I find this epg a strain on the eyes tbh
you can make the font bigger and more entries on the page etc
but imo cool epg is much better and clearer

Hmm.. pressing blue just gives me the symbol suggesting that function isn't allowed. the only options i've got are zap and add timer (red and green)

you have to press blue while in graphical epg

Im doing it on a dreambox at the moment sorry so could be slightly different on TM800 mate

or try pressing menu while in graphical epg ?

:( Menu just lets me set the date and blue doesn't do anything.. tried a few other buttons but not found anything.. I do like the simplicity of GraphMultiEPG.. it'w definatel quicker responding than coolepg.

ah sorry I couldn't help mate lol

I'm sure an owner will sort you out or digi will post what he does :)

@Digi..

To summarise what i'm trying to do..

GraphMultiEPG
I'd like to increase the number of channels on screen at once
I'd also like to either map the EPG button on the remote to GraphMultiEPG (i've tried the multi quick button but it doesn't list the epg button)

appreciate any help.

Hi
I need some info on how to store the rytec epg so when i turn the system off i dont have all the trouble of having to download them again. I have a hdd fitted internally via sata with the DiskUtilities.xml fix (which iam not quite sure if ive done it right), can any of you help please. I am new to all this and it seems i went for the wrong box really to learn with but i have a good understanding of how to do things, i have timeshift working but i need a better guide on how to install the DiskUtilities.xml (as i may have it wrong) and storing the epg guide. Sorry for jumping on this post

Thanks Rat. i don't get anything like that :(

The New Azbox Me looks good although ive yet to find a seller, It can run android and Google TV once the source has been released by google

Flash Memory 512 MB

Fooking hell, 256Mb of Flash Ram.

Even the DM800SE only has 64Mb, just think of the goodies they could pack into all that ram.

Maybe Android is the future for Linux DVB.
