Dreambox fix

assuming that you are starting from scratch.

telnet your box ip
root
dreambox
cd /var/bin
./hypercam_1.06

if you have it somewhere else like /var/bin/emu then

telnet your box ip
root
dreambox
cd /var/bin/emu
./hypercam_1.06

not bothered to try it myself as in england :FLAG:

dont mean to burst the bubble but will this work on n3 as im on upc ireland and received a new card today and have put it in my reader its rom142 rev g02

well the card you have is for n3 but they are still using n2 and n3 so it will decode the n2 side of things

No it will not work on N3 but seeing as how they are still streaming N2 it will work for now.

@gersrt

chmod 755 files

For people using Pli Image:

To add a Soft Cam manually:

FTP the appropriate files to your box and chmod the files

Create an empty file with the same name as the Soft Cam, for example "hypercam". Optionally, you can enter the version number of the softcam as text and save it

Upload this file to /var/etc/plimgr/cams/

PLi Manager will now detect the new Soft Cam "hypercam", if you entered a version number in your file it will be recognised as such

Choose the new Soft Cam in the Soft Cam Setup

Not yet but don't think I'm far away. Had just figured out the chmod 755 before I saw desdan reply (I really should re-read all the posts more often). Still not there but working in it. Might be a long night!!!!!

fareplay good luck with it

Ok think ive copped it now too.

Just 2 questions do I chmod all 3 files, and do I put them in /var/bin or /var/bin/emu.

Thanks:Cheers:

i would love to help m8 it is over my head now!

I think you should definitely "chmod 755" files hypercam.cfg and hypercam_1.06. Not sure about hypercam.keys. Try them in /var/bin/emu first

Oh I give up.

Any chance one of you guys could put up a link for a modded image.

You could call it Dreambox IreN2.img Or something.

It would really help out. Im too tired to do any command line progs at the moment.

Cheers

Appreciate the efforts and the fix guys.
I have to agree though that there appears to be a gap or two in the info needed to enable this fix.
For example I'm on image 2.1, evocam 2.12
From what I have picked up, so far, the only things you have to do are
- copy the files (use an ftp client, like cuteFTP), change the rights on two of them(right click using cuteFTP), then 1 run file (press the yellow key on the remote, select the file, press OK)

Its not clear though what else you may have to do, i.e, restart, do an autoscan, load a different cam from the menu
Plus, there are different directory structures out there I think. I.e I only have /var/bin directory, I don't have an emu Dir, plus
my /var/bin directory did not have a keys file in it before I dropped the new file in there. I presume the keys file should be where the other keys files are??

So to help everyone, can anyone who has made this work and tested it, help with the following questions
1. /var/bin is OK as the destination directory, even if there are no keys files there already? y/n
2. only chmod the .cfg and 1.06 files, not the keys file y/n
3. execute the 1.06 file
4. anything else ??

BTW, Ive completed the items above and will report back and write it up:proud: if any suggestions help complete the process

Press Red to save on your way out of tuxbox commander

Can confirm this works fine on dreambox or openmedia but you have to start hypercam from tuxbox commander after every shutdown then wait for channels to clear for the moment ;).
No progress with dbox yet but will try again tomorrow.

thanks for the response wiz
I have to get a life:nopity:

OK, just to be crystal ( for me, and fellow non clever types) on step 3, (starting the cam)

-hit yellow on the remote
-navigate to /var/bin
-scroll down to hypercam_1.06
-hit OK
-left arrow to highlight and hit "OK" (you should be looking at the "Execute hypercam... dialogue box")
- you then see a blue screen with "/var/bin/hypercam_1.06" at the top
- press the exit button twice on the remote
-left arrow to highlight "yes", (on the "save current settings" box) then press OK
- exit button to get back to a channel
-if you are on a blank channel, wait until it appears ?

no scanning, reload EMU, or anything else??
