maybe silly question but is the disc scratched ? does the pc try to read it or does it boot from hard drive immediately ?

is there an option in bios to set defaults ?

yeh i set the defaults then went back in and selected boot from cd when i power up it sounds like its trying to boot the cd the lights flashing on the disc tray but the screen stays blank theres no option press any key to boot from cd which i find strange as this has always been the norm to me ?

anyway im still a bit miffed anybody had any experiance with this problem its a new one to me :proud:

Can u see the disk in windows explorer??

Try it in another pc and see if it gives u the option to boot.

If yes then best guess is replace your cd drive.
or get a usb drive.
set option to boot from USB or download windows Xp boot floppies. Make sure you download the disk appropriate for your version of windows.

If No then download and burn a fresh copy.
