I'm not in a rush, only too happy to use the temporary fix of manual change until summiks sorted. Lets face it, its no hardship in the short term.

Manual key change is hardly a chore.. what you should be more worried about is the total change of encrypption system which surely has to happen soon (like planned in Ireland) as it's been Nagra 1 for too long now.

Surely to change the encryption from N*gra 1 would mean they'd have to change everybodys set top boxes as the current hardware cant do N*gra 2 can it?

Sometimes not even the cards! But cards at worst not a hardware change. Does'nt matter nagra2 is cracked already its nagra3 that would screw us!

The card has to decrypt the ecm strings, not the box.
If there is no change at the protocol between box and cards only cards have to be exchanged.
Beside that the software at the boxes can be upgraded if needed.

Yes, it can. The Nagra2 cam isn't particularly different from the Nagra1 cam. Pretty much any box could accept a firmware update to make it work with the Nagra2 datastream. Remember, that the box does very little except grab info from the streamdata and feed it to the card. its all down to the card to do decryption etc.
