i dont see why it wont fit m8
check out this link and scroll down to the bottom there is a list of hard discs
western digital is in there but not your 1 which is proberly cause it werent out when i looked around

it should work. its the right size, so there should be no problems with it at all. im going to upgrade mine at some point, but im going to hold off just now. wait till prices drop a bit more

hey guys can you let us know which ones you went for and how you got on. i'm gonna go this way too. from what i've read the wd scorpios work fine but some people have complained they're a bit noisey.

I've gone for the 320GB drive. I won't need anymore space for a long time.

A lot of divx movies (even in HD)

Games (+ demos)

Music

Pictures

And I won't need to connect my external hard drive (unless for backing up).

i put a 250 gig in mine works like a charm got loads of demos and divx on it now
now thinking of putting yellow dog on hmmm

I'm sure I still have that Yellow dog linux installed on my ps3, but I never use it, because it is too slow and its not all that good.

Say i get a 250gig hard drive can i put DVDs, HD movies on it and can i play them through the PS3.

How difficult is it installing Linux.

If i mess it up does the PS3 get messed up or do you just format the Hard disk?

the 250gb drive is better value in a per gb way, oddly enough. i thought it would be the other way around.

It is easy to install, but takes around an hour.

You can put all the dvds, hd movies on the hard drive and play them taking into account that you would have to install linux programs to watch them.

Its just another operating system like windows but not as good.

No, the PS3 can just be formatted and restored to normal if any issues occur.

Ppl, I recieved my 320GB hdd yesterday, and I installed it in my PS3.

Now I have 290GB of space, and it isn't more noiser than the original 60GB hdd.

I'm well chuffed because I won't need anymore space in the forseeable future.

It is recommended to get this!

its very simple to do. and it doesnt void your warranty. sony intended this to be a simple thing to do.

be sure to keep your old hard drive though. you will need to reinsatll it if you need any repairs done under warranty

Yes it was very easy. Literally took 10mins (being carful).

Just follow the instructions and thats it. Formatting only took seconds and then I restored from the backup which took another 15mins.

So overall, you are looking at half an hour max.

And you don't actually take the PS3 apart.
