So today is the official final nail in Winamp's coffin :( I'm embarrassed to say I'm still an avid user. I've stuck with it over the years and haven't found any reason to change to anything else.

Out of interest, what do you use to listen to your MP3's? No, hardware or streaming solutions, I'm talking good old fashioned software for MP3 file playback.

Sadly I tend to use itunes as it seems easiest as whenever I add music to my iphone it has to be done through itunes anyway so it makes sense to just leave the library as it is. If I'm just browsing folders though I'll use win media player. Used to be a big winamp fan though, it was always one of the first things I'd install on my computer after a fresh format, I just sort of stopped using it, couldn't even tell you why, I guess that probably typical of many users and hence why it has been sadly laid to rest :(

Always used Winamp on computer. Now I have an iPad I do most of my listening on that but Winamp was always so simple and unfussey.

I use Foobar 2000, a daft name, but it just works. It has shell integration, and a minimal display.

Just open an mp3 track, and away it goes.

Hope Microsoft do get it, my go to media player.

TBH, I have no idea what I'm using? Just expect the OS to deal - it does, I listen :)

Did not think people used PC's to play MP3's much anymore with the rise of the smartphone and some of the fancy devices out there :)

When in front of my PC I use it to listen to music. Years ago I did it through WinAmp. Windows Media player got better but I used Media player classic. Now I use WMP with the klite package.

In the car I use my head unit. In work/everywhere else I use my phone.

I rest my case, I think?

Case rested :)

I like this thread because it reminded me of a time, many years ago, when downloading a song on 56k took an eternity.

But the joy and pleasure it gave...

A song. I managed to find a song. I managed to download it. It was like a mini musical lottery.

And then Napster ( not our Napster ) and then WinMX

What a journey.

Yes there was something great about downloading music back in the day :) waiting half an hour for a song and getting excited when it was nearly complete lol. Napster was amazing I had so many good chats with members on there when I'd notice someone was downloading a song from me I'd sometimes message them and we'd chat about the group :)

I just installed Win 8.1 on an old desktop, and by default it uses a thing called X-box player. It's 'orrible.

So it's either WMP or Realplayer for me.

I do use the PC quite a lot for playing music- I have about 1TB of MP3's on a NAS drive- hit 'random' & never hear the same track twice for a long, long time :)
