Hi all,

I lost the ITV HD channel on Freeview last night (whilst watching the Chelsea/Lazio Champions League match) ...so I did a full re-scan to try and get it back... and I noticed that the number of channels downloaded was higher than I normal scan-in... so I had a quick look through the channels and noticed these...

ARTE HD
Paris Premiere
M6
W9
NT1

There was a full signal for a short time... and the EPG had also been populated for these five channels... but the signal then disappeared... then came back... then disappeared... etc etc etc

I was amazed that I was even receiving these channels...!! I don't live anywhere near the South Coast of England which seems to (from what I have read) receive the French Freeview channels periodically) ...but I live in the NW Midlands...!!

Did anyone else this far North receive any French Freeview channels last night...?

I have attached a few pictures below...

Best Wishes,
Zorch

i think this is all do so with the way radio waves work.. bouncing off the ozone layer..

im assuming with the high sun spot activity not only are we experienceing long distance audio signals but the DTT signals are managing to push though as well ..

Agree with neorage. Microwave and short wave radio reception goes ballistic during abnormal solar activity.

@ OP

interesting as i lst signal on a few of the freeview channels on my tv last night too but did not attempt rescan as i didnt want to go through setting my my list again as i have it edited in a certain order.....are you still recieving these channels ?

Hi Mr Tech,

@ OP...are you still recieving these channels ?

No mate... I checked them this morning and there was nothing... and all the EPG data had gone as well... so I just re-scanned back to normal...

Best Wishes,

well gonna get my silver rod up nice and high later and hit the 555 i think ;)
Do you want a nice w beam (hexbeam) ?
I don't use it anymore (all the wires are hanging) it's set for 28.120 (psk) but goes quite nicely down to 555 wouldn't be brilliant on the mids.
You don't have to hang the other bands but 20mtrs would help give it structure.
It's on a tiltover and you would have to help me drop it and disassemble.
You can have the rotator as well.
One condx is you don't sell it as I could do that.

I think I could speak this language about 30 years ago :)
