Fecking Car Insurance

Its a joke mate, my misses has been driving 24yrs never a bump or claim so full ncb, just sold her Audi s-line 190bhp and now drives a scenic mpv, audi =group 29 insurance scenic = 11.
So you'd think massive yearly saving, not on your fecking life, it went down by less then £100 still over £600 now.
but on the bright side ,tax is cheaper lol

i got 8 yrs ncd mine went up this year work that out

They will go up every year, it is a matter of getting a cheaper quote ask them to match or better if not you change insurer.
Most insurers pick a different range of cars each year to insure cheaper than the competition and use them as a loss leader just like supermarkets do with food and drink, so always worth a snoop around.

im 33 now and 2 years ago was paying £800 a year for a volvo convertible, didnt make a claim and the next years quote went to £1800....madness.Changed companies and got for £500.

As already been said put yourself as a named driver regardless of the car she ends up with it seems to lower premiums by a bit, i put my dad on mine and it still knocks off £50 minimum, but for a first time car it really needs to be a 1.0 litre thing or group 1 or 2 at the most or you will be crucified regardless.

My daughters friend who is 20 told my daughter yesterday that her insurance was also 4,000 for a vauxhall Corsa. She ended up paying just over 3,000 if she paid cash for it. What a fecking rip off.

I am 67 and i insure with insurethebox it is limited to 6000 miles a year the more motor way miles i drive the bigger the bonus I do not drive during the rush hour and my present milage allowance from last year means I have over 6930 mile on my allowance and my renewal went down by £1.28 for driving with no hard braking,no or very little peak hours not driving for more than 2 hours without taking a break you get upto 100 bonus miles per month. If you run out of mileage allowance you can purchase more miles at 250 mls=£5.60 500mls=£11.18 1000mls=£22.37 2000mls=£44.73
This probably does not suit people who have to travel between 5-6pm or after 9pm

was a joke :)

Round here, there are a scary number of people driving around with insurance. I got hit by one, 2 years ago and luckily it was only minor damage and the woman didn't have a chance to drive off.

A mate at work just bought his first ever car last month, well proud of it, brand new as well. Married, 26 years old, lives in a flat in Romford, I think insurance was £1,200 (no black box). 3 weeks later some arsehole on quad bike side swipes him. No plates and he gave my mate the finger and rode off. Caused £1,500 of damage, my mate had £500 excess and I hate to think what his insurance is going to be like next year.

^^^^ This, I have changed company every year for the last 8 years now, though I seems to be doing round robin between direct line, tesco and admiral as I have been with each of them a couple of times now.

Pay as you go insurance? is this the future now. I would hate to be dictated when and where I can drive to, and at what time of day. It all sounds to much of a Conservative idea to me to screw more money out of you/or to take you off the road completely so the lard dee dahs can put to fingers up at us. Bleak times ahead I think. The money it costs for driving lessons, £30.00 theory tests and just to finish you off BAM cop for that try insuring that you feckers. :(

I was with Esure. Paid 700 last year with 5 yrs Ncd.
Renewal they wanted 1250 !! Phoned them up to check if could do any cheaper. Was told. No that's the best they can do.
I went on a couple comparison sites. Top quote. £623. FEEKING ESURE !!!

Go figure.

Anyway. Carried on looking and found another insurance broker and got insured for 545.

Told Esure where to put their policy. :)

A reasonable set figure for young drivers to start off with then by all means penalise them for/if bad driving occurs or even accidents. How are youngsters going to gain any no claims bonus if they cannot afford to insure the car in the first place. In your honest opinion mate what would you say would be a reasonable starting price for insurance for youngsters. Both my wife and I think that the insurance on our cars are actually quite reasonable so the complaint is not about us by the way. :)

Zurich insurance used to do a offer where if you insure with them for 6 months they give you a years no claims if you then renew for the next six months they give you a bonus of another years NCD, so after 12 months you have 2 years NCB, i did this when i passed it cost me £800 for six months on a 1ltr corsa but then after a year i was paying £800 a year and my mates where still paying £1400 plus so it could be worth seein if they still do that offer.

That's the insurance business model - reserve best prices for new customers. After a couple of years you'll be a 'new' customer again. As oneman suggests, just change company every year :)

I don't think that 2 grand is that bad but I would like is that aside from NCD you get a one time payment back if you don't claim. Like a percentage of the first year is a bond payment. Its something the insurance companies could easily offer as most kids do end up having a claim.

It isn't pay as you go it is only if you exceed the 6000 ml allowance I paid £325 and I always get extra miles by not driving in the peak times and as i said in post my mile allowance is now more than the 6000 mls

£2000 a year might not be too bad for a car worth £5000 but how can it be so high on a car only worth £500. I dont think its fair to punish all young drivers i think the reason for most accidents is because driving tests are too easy to pass. I passed my test after a week of learning to drive, in total i had 12 hours on the road i then did my test and passed with 4 minors, i personally thought it was riduculas to pass so quick but i just obeyed the rules, the instructor taught me how to pass my test. I had never drove in rain i hadn't drove at night, i never experienced ice or snow. I think they should make all young drivers learn in all the conditions before having a test. I think insurance compaines should also have a bonus scheme like zurich did it motivates you to drive responsibly.

Good call oneman I like it. It gives that little incentive to keep your nose clean and play by the rules. :). Quality reply oneman I hope sooner, rather than later this happens.

.I still say that once you have passed your test you are still not allowed on the motorway until pass plus has been taken as well. To many idiots head straight for the motorway once they have passed and put there foot to the floor. Bearing in mind that new drivers are only used to 40mph tops. Frightening isn't it?.
