Yellos.

My uncle in late november gave me a 360 of theirs to see if I could fix it. I was about to go on holiday for a fortnight, and my last fixing attempt failed after several hours of frustration so I didnt have a go. I said to check warranty for 3 yrs - as its a 2006 console, but he reckoned it had long since expired (and had bought it 2nd hand from somewhere)

When I got back from hols he'd bought a new one anyway and said I can just have the old one to see if can do anything with.

Its since been sat on shelf. I presume its probably not exploitable as my nephew likes to play on Live (never know tho - may have been a spare console for nonlive play :D)

I've just put in the numbers to check on xbox and register a device...then chose 3rrod and said in details it was 0020 code (which it is)...and it looks like they've accepted it for repair (says £0 and they'll send by email a label to print (still waiting) to get it sent in etc)

whhoooohooo (tho he didnt give me any cables...bugger)

I'm just wondering though - are they tending to fix these consoles now - especially the 06 ones.....or just give a new replacement? In a way would rather they fix it on the offchance it is still jtaggable even tho thats not too likely. If get a different console - are they always newer models with updates on too - or some random other persons console that they had just recently got around to refurbing

They replaced mine. So yours was accepted?

I know they have it on file when it was bought (although i think it's only if you register it).

looks like it has been accepted yes - got email from them saying its in processing :)

Just got to wait for the label email.

Least power supplies are reasonable at about 13quid on fleabay then got a whole unit more or less.

I take it the chance of a jtaggable replacement are prob non-existant

Theres a small chance.

I got a rrod replaced by them just before christmas and it came with old dash.
Me being stupid and not knowing about jtag about at that point put the shiney new dash on.

Gutted now though as i payed £20 with all leads :)

if they dont replace the whole console it they will replace the board and bang in a 9x series lite-on sent a few of before chrimbo 2007 models got the back same case diff board diff drive depends on the technitioan that fixes mate the dont go by a standard its all down to the guy who repairs it on the line cheers wattsy1612

p.s i sent a modded console off to xbox in sept last left a copy of op flashpoint in it they replaced the elite console and sent the game back in a cd wallet lol i could not bloody belive it

quick question.

Did you guys remove the faceplates when send them in?

It says to do that if you have a custom faceplate.

This one has some ugly faceplate on it that looks like Bam Bam Bigalow's undercrackers.

Just wondering/hoping they stick on a regular white one for me :)

Just had the xbox returned earlier today yay - very quick a 8 day turnaround to and from germany

They've certainly replaced the console. The drive is a Liteon (yellow wire - if I remember correctly.

Now the new/refurb/whatever console I've got back has a "service" date of 22-07-09.....but it is of course still a non hdmi box so must be a refurb with new sticker/case?

I loaded it and checked the dash and its 7371.

Soooo...anyone know what the odds are that its prob not jtaggable? As obv the dash matches, but it being after the 18th June date, I suppose it probably got updated at same time they update their newly manufactured boxes? Has anyone here yet had any boxes with July dates on that HAVE been taggable?

I sent off an elite, which i got back last week.
Mine had a benQ and was on dash 7XXX.

Got it back with a new mobo (old on was going on fire:)) with the poxy new liteOn 9xxx and then new 8Xxx dash :(

ah well going to flash LT to it after a bit o cutting and soldering.

Tboy you wont know until you jtag it and see what CB it has, they may have put th new bootloader on it, they want to cover as many holes as they can while in there possesion.

cheers.

After my last venture with several hours of bad soldering (but finally got there yay) it makes me reluctant to have a go when the probability of it seems to be slim....though at least the cable is made up now (well if you can call it a cable - more like a triffid lol) so only the 360 side to do.

I'm more wondering mind, if theres been ANY reports at all of people who have July consoles that haven't had the new bootload on? That way i'd know if I stand even a slight chance :)

Noone know if ANY boxes from July time have ever been found to be taggable still?

Not sure if it relevant,

but i just got another box back from ms .. running 84 something something kernal.
I think they may have cottoned on, or i'm just unlucky :(
