Xbox as a PVR?

I've been doing a lot of reading as to what i can do with my old xbox,i'm looking at either softmod using the tuts here or using a modchip and using it as a media centre.But then i found something called MythTV which turns the xbox in to a PVR but i can't seem to figure out how it does this??
Anyone have any experience with this MythTV?

The MythTV plugin will simply be a frontend for the Xbox that can talk to a MythTV installed Linux box that has a TV card in.
