Microsoft has revealed that Xbox 360 sales are up by 100% in the US after the console's price was cut to under $200.
The Xbox 360 Arcade unit is currently the cheapest console on the market at $199 (£114), with the Premium edition priced at $299 (£171).
The price was cut, which has left the Arcade unit even cheaper than the Wii, was prompted when the PS3 began to outsell the 360 in the US.
Don Mattrick, senior vice president of the Interactive Entertainment Business at Microsoft, said: "We are thrilled to be the first next-generation console on the market to reach $199, a price that invites everyone to enjoy Xbox 360."
