xbox 360 dvd drives

hi all was wondering if some one could tell me if dvd drives in xbox 360's are interchangable such as if i have a lite-on in mine can i change it for a benq or samsung or does the dashboard on the consol search for the certain firmware much appreciate your answers

they are ,but you need your drive key to pair it up with the mobo of your 360,and the new drive you put in needs to be spoofed to show as your old drive
