x264 support for movies?

hey all.

anybody tried a hd movie with the latest support from fall update?

been playing hd wmv's from external drive with great results, but there's much more stuff in x264 format, and a lot more 1080i stuff.

anybody had any success with theese? there very big for my 2mb connection to download just to try one...

Tried to stream an x264 format movie and it didn't work

just tried i am legend from xvid from a usb pen drive, said i needed aan update, downloaded it, and still didnt play...

so much for divx support microsoft...

h264 is basically an uncompressed HD video file.

x264 is basically a divx compressed HD video file

well i am legend worked fine for me on disc, dunno what was the problem via usb drive.
id favour usb drive over dvd-r any day.

think i'll bite the bullet and try the kingdom x264, at 9gig it'll take a while, but nowt else to download anyway.
i will post any results.

Pic quality on x264 aint nowhere near as good as wmv-hd and is a lot more problematic when streaming it.

x264 is basically a divx compressed HD video file

not totally correct fella,

h264 is a new codec developed by VCEG and MPEG. its a hi quality, hi compression, low quality loss codec.

x264 is a open source variant of h264
