I was thinking that if I got an Xecuter HDXT, to replace my PS3 hard drive.

That gives an external ESATA port. I could then use one of these, which I already have.

The theory is that I could use more than 1 drive on the PS3. Use 1 with an updated 3.42 or whatever, and use 1 or more filled with games and 3.41 for use with a jailbreak dongle.

Also if I was using 3.5" drives I could use 1tb or larger drives.

u cant downgrade ps3 in any way.. yet :)

But if you was on 3.41 you could use this method to use a big hard drive, like a 1.5tb or 2tb 3.5" drive as the internal.

Yes you could mate not sure on the biggest size a ps3 can handle but its a good way to get at least 1tb storage. Im considering it instead of the 500gb internal i got in at the minute.

yes you can put in any hard drive with that.. but you cant have 2 hard drives 1 for 3.41 and 1 for 3.42, once u update to 3.42 on the ps3 it goes onto the flash memory on the ps3 itself you cant remove it ..
