Won't play DVD's with NEO4

I've modded a ps2 with a NEO4, but it won't play Region 1 or 2 DVD's, even though it will play original and backed up games. I have done the same thing with another PS2 and it works fine ... any thoughts (in other words have I hashed it or is this common).

are they the same model numbers m8? have you made sure all the connections are properly soldered? as this can make the difference.

as you say it won't play region 1 or 2 dvds are these backups or originals?

hi k-bee, has the ps2 ever played a dvd original before you fitted the neo4,if it hasent,that could be your problem [something to do with activating the region code in the bios].

With neo4 a swap is required with an original dvdr game with a bigger toc (total overall capasity)<br />Turn on the PS2 with no disc<br />Press X to go into the browser screen<br />Press eject and put in your original DVD game (Big TOC)<br />Press eject again and hold till gold disc comes on screen<br />Let go and tray will eject slowly- swap with your DVDR backup<br />Press X and play - its that simple

Cheers for your help, I had heard of a problem with setting up the region codes, that's what convinced me It could never be my soldering - but it was. . which is a lesson to us all - no matter how much experience you've got do't get cocky.. For everbodies reference it was pins 42 + 43 shorted (version 3) .
