Will a dodgy tuner playback video from pc?

Hi guys, got a Dbox2 last week, worked fine for a few minutes then nothing, and been trying since to get it working. Screen is just green with no picture, though time and epg are working fine. Checked evocamd, no problems there. Tried various uk images, and all the ucodes i could find, still no luck. Decided to see if i could playback a movie from my pc over the network to make sure the box could actually display video ok. When i play the video nothing happens, though if i press dbox button it diplays a timer, and also the lcd displays the movie name.

Does it look like there is something wrong with the box, my instincts say the tuner isnt working but, would the box play video even with a broken tuner. Any help or advice greatly appreciated.

P.s. Signal numbers are good BER = 200 SNR = 65000 SIG = 40000, dont think its that.

It doesnt use tuner for playback from pc, sounds more like hardware fault somewere else, poss display chip, but mgb is the man to ask about hardware faults.
