As your machine ages the thermal paste on the chips gets less efficient, add to that the inevitable build up of dust and it only stands to reason that things will get hotter quicker and your fans will kick in sooner and harder.
That's what I just said.

I'm just saying that when I open a PS3 with a YLOD, I'm almost guaranteed that it'll have COD4 or WOW stuck inside, and people usually say "I was playing COD and it jsut switched itself off, I tried to turn it back on and it did this.."
