TM5400 usb super allows recording of encrypted channels. It has a usb so no need for rs232 cables and you can record on to the usb stick. The tm3500 allows rec but support is not as good.
thank u very moch 4 Good info matethe 3500 also has USB and can record encrypted channels, it will also accept, and keep updates, as valid sly or freesat from sly card
the 3500 has a lot more internal memory than the 5400, but the 5400 also has a CI slot to accept a CAM (some CAMs will decode a few channels that the patches cannot, as well as accept a 2nd viewing card)
at the moment the 4500 cannot read a sly card, but this is being worked on, but will only work (if at all) with a patch, whereas the 3500 will work with a sly card with official firmware
the menus of the 5400 are the same as the technomate menus have been for the last few years, the same as the 1000 and 6000 models of receivers, the 3500 has menus that are not a million miles from a sly digibox EPG, and very similar to how slys new PVR EPGs are going to look
i have both boxes, and while the 3500 spends more time connetced than the 5400, i think id personally recommend the 5400 model m8
