Which is the best Antivirus program too use ?

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone can suggest a decent Antivirus program ? I am looking to install some new Antivirus software on my Mams PC. But the McAfee I aquired (2007) wont update properly & the AVG Free one wont work either ! Any suggestions ? preferably free Antivirus ?

i use mafee m8, been using it for 4 years now on desktop and laptop, no problems at all. Got my 2008 security centre (oem) with 3 licenses from ebuyer for £5.

Is ur mcafee not updating properly because ur subscription has expired? im assuming this because u said you've got the 2007 version.

Use AVG 8. Ive always used the avg product range alongside Zonealarm. They are free and do what they are supposed to do.

Seconded, been using it for years on several pc's, never let me down. Realtime updates every couple of hours, very low impact on system resources, and unobtrusive.

I run Trend Micro on my desktop at home. Seems to be a little bit of a resource hog but it does the job.

I use NOD32 on my laptop and I'm pleased with it. Does the job and doesn't hog the system. Caught a few nasty files for me.

I use the free AVG v8 on my desktop, works well for me.
My laptop has a 6 month free trail of Kaspersky from a recent cover disk of PC Advisor.

i remained a firm kaspersky user til now, but tried the new norton av and its very good, doesnt hijack system resources like older versions

AVG all the way...free and auto updates (if set to do so).

For removal of malware...its gotta be Malwarebytes Antimalware...

Saves me everytime

kaspery sky is a headache not worth the trouble roud:

nod 32 you have to have plenty pc experiance to use it proparly

I use Symantec Corp, never had any problems with it, although have tried AVAST on my sisters laptop and it moans nearly all the time about keygens, everyone of them seems to have a w32.trojan embedded in it but malware detectors and other checkers don't?

i've been using pc-cillin and have recently gone on to Avg anti virus. I'm finding it quite good as a free download but it is hard to find the free upload from the official site
