whats my best option???

hi there....

I'm new to this cable modem stuff, and after having a look around to see what's what i think I'll have to admit that it's way over my head

so i had a little look on the web and seen you can buy pre hacked modems.
and you can tell them what software you want on it....

firstly is this the best way to do it (if you're not that clued up)
and secondly what software should i ask for???


any help would be greatly appreciated

theres plenty of info on the sb4100 andsb4200 wich you dont need any extra cables todo

but this does look like a little to much for me,
plus if i screw it up i don't have any tinternet

so if i buy one and mess it up i still have my own to fall back on....

so whats the best firmware/software to go for???

buy a cheap one off ebay then hack it yourself, its easier than you think, plus you have excellent forums like this to help you

for the moment try a webstar 2100 ther quite cheap and ther also jtagable or u can get an motorola 4200 or a 5100 but can be a bit expensive

But as most have said here , its very easy to hack one , plus you have this forum . all the anwsers can be found here .

So whats the chances of bricking the modem,
I'm pretty handy with a dreambox and a Dbox2, and i've flashed a handful of PSPs with custom firmware...
the thing is the tuts i've looked at kinda scare me
is there a fools guide to flashing a SB5100e (coz i am that fool )
