Strictly speaking it will only work this year, to work next year 1757 would need to be changed to 1758 and the 1756 would need to be changed to 1757, this plus the additional 5 that you were asked to add on multiplied by 50 gives the current year for your year of birth to be sutracted from.

PS it will not work if you are over 100:FRIGHT:

These are easy enough to make up yourself. They just throw numbers in to make it seem more "magical" than it is.
in step 3 you add 5, and multiply by 50. Take this aside that is 250.
So if you skip step 3. the step 5 would be 1757+250=2007

Your intial number is multiplied by 2, then by 50, so multiplied by 100.

So if you leave out step 3 and 4, it becomes.

You can add any crap in the middle you want.

A more impressive test is to tell somebody to write down a 6 digit number. Tell them you will add in one digit in some place which will make it perfectly divisible by 9.

say they write, 183926.
You add these up in your head, it is 29. If the sum of the numbers is divisible by 9 then the actual number is divisible too. The next multiple of 9 is 4x9=36. Now 36-29=7.

Now you should be looking at the number for ages to make it look like you are a math wizard, then put the 7 in some place, like 1873926.

No matter where you put it the number is divisible by 9. You could even get them to tell you where to insert a number which can look more impressive, but a bit too impressive! of course you can pick any amount of digits you want initially depending on how good you can add in your head.

i like these maths tricks. there must be some kind of conclusion to why they work. But whoever did the starting maths to work out the trick must be a genius
