I know this topic has been covered a lot but i have problem and i can't seem to find a solution i have followed all the tutorials i have setup vlc and the dbox when i go into movieplayer on the box and select file by vlc it gives me my list of files when i try to play one it starts playing on the pc with a perfect pic but on the dbox it just sticks on please wait connecting to streaming server i have tried 7 images and about 3 diferent versions of vlc i have no firewall running and also tried starting vlc when in the movieplayer menu as somebody suggested but get the same result every time i know the files will play as i have had this all working before

I had this problem but using the patch vlc from the downloads fixed it all. But had to make sure all of vlc was uninstalled previously including the directory left in program files. It starts vlc with these options are they on your shortcut '--extraintf=http --sout-transcode-fps 25'. Found on certain images you have to dramatically reduce the screen resolution and the bit rate to get it to work also. Had a problem with vlc stop working a couple of weeks ago where it wouldnt even display the file list but rebuilt my computer and this fixed it in the process.

Finally got it to work I had to remove vlc and delete the config file located in C:\Documents and Settings\USER\Application Data\vlc
Then I had to install vlc v7.0 and run it the first time using (Vlc.exe --save-config --http-host=:8080) then close vlc and run it with (vlc.exe --extraintf=http)

And now it’s all working this is the only way I could get it to work it didn’t work with vlc v7.2/8.5 or 8.5 + patches
