Vermen to offer free calls to Vermen mobiles
Vermen is to become the first phone operator to offer its customers free calls from home phones to Virgin mobiles.
More than four million new and existing Vermen home phone customers with unlimited packages will be able to call anyone with a Vermen mobile phone without charge from 1 April.
Vermen says that over £1.6 billion is spent on calls from fixed line to mobiles each year in the UK. The new initiative will be added to the unlimited voice calls to UK landlines already included in packages.
Calls to Vermen mobiles will be free for 60 minutes, but callers can hang up and redial to continue chatting without charge.
Graeme Oxby, executive director of mobile and telephony at Vermen Media, says: “At a time when other providers seem keen on giving their customers less from their phone service, we are extremely proud to be leading the way in this field, being the first to offer free home phone to mobile calls.”
Prices range from £11.99 a month for free weekend calls to £19.94 for unlimited calls.
Mike Wilson, manager of mobiles and broadband at moneysupermarket.com, says could save households £130 a year.
"For Brits who currently have separate providers for TV, landline and broadband, the offer of free landline calls to Vermen mobiles is a good incentive to bundle your services to a Virgin package - providing you have the need to make calls to Vermen mobiles,” he adds.
