UHF

m8's,

Having read the rest of this thread I take it that what m8's are talking about is the channel selected in signal strength and whether this has any effect on reception.

Not the UHF setting of the RF output.

I** D** is transmitted on 6 UHF channels that vary from transmitter to transmitter. Each UHF channel holds the info for several actual channels. This is done using a mux (multiplexer)

For mux info see

<a href="http://www.dvbcomment.com/muxes/frame.htm" target="_blank">http://www.dvbcomment.com/muxes/frame.htm</a>

For tranmitter info see

<a href="http://www.jaura.freeserve.co.uk/transmit.htm" target="_blank">http://www.jaura.freeserve.co.uk/transmit.htm</a>

It will only show how much signal you are receiving from your local transmitter on a given mux.

Hope this helps?

what it says is signal strength definately i bow to that no argument, but could the signal be somehow effected by the meter, similar to the way an electronic circuit is minutely effected by a voltmeter, it could be that it is a coincidance, that i noticed picture improvement, but so have many others, ok may be a load of crap, but the picture improvement is on a nokia box, not the philips thats always been good. make sense anyone.

This topic seems to just keep going and going!!!

At the end of the day, if you change the uhf, u get a better reading on the signal strength monitor. When i started this topic, i said that changing the UHF stopped me from getting "card validation error" This is still true, ive not had this problem since i changed my UHF, so going into my second week without any problems....

Keep the info and feed back coming in m8ys as it quite amuzing to see what some of you are posting!!!

I've been trying to follow this thread, but it's as clear as mud m8's or am I just thick? My Nokia box is on 21, the signal strength is almost non-existant(just in the red!) .... Yet I've got a perfect picture! What's going on and does anyone know what the UHF number for central Scotland is??? <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> <img src="confused.gif" border="0"> <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

Sorry m8's! Ignore that last post. I should have read through all the posts first. Thanks to owenzy I've reset my Nokia to 51 from 21 and now have full green on the strength meter. What I thought was a perfect picture before has improved dramatically and my Nokia also changes channels faster! Without referring to any1 in particular.

What part of, changing the UHF channel number (#) in menu 7 – 1 will not:

Improve you reception, or Stop your box from displaying “cannot validate this…..” or speed up your box…………don’t you people understand.

Other people as well as myself have tried to explain why this won’t help (it’s a technical impossibility) but it seems that no one wants to take any notice…..So for the want of better words, Ok if it makes you happy carry on in the belief that changing the UHF channel # will help.

I sort of now know how Christopher Columbus felt when he said the World was round…but that’s a different story.

<br />I give up. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">
