Telewest Broadband has confirmed to that upgrades to the analogue-only ex-Cabletime cable network in parts of Birmingham will begin to be upgraded in October. The confirmation now brings a concrete start date for the project, which until now had only been given a rough end-2003 to early-2004 timescale.

"We're delighted to confirm that Telewest Broadband is to upgrade its last remaining area of analogue network in Birmingham, starting from October 2003.

"This means that those customers who currently receive an analogue TV service will be able to receive all our digital TV and broadband internet products.

"The rolling programme of expansion will span a six month period and we'll be writing to all customers over the coming weeks with the good news.

This news comes on top of an announcement made in the most recent monthly service update, stating that other ex-Cabletime regions in Liverpool and West London are expected to be upgraded through 2004 and 2005.
