My Dad has a 2 year old Samsung HDTV with built in Freeview tuner.

I went round to tune STV HD only to find that the tuner is SD only!

Wassa fucking point in that??

Freeview HD uses a brand new and improved standard for broadcasting. You'll need a new DVB-T2 compatible TV or receiver which have only been out for a few months now.

Aye, rogers is right.

UK Freeview HD uses DVB-T2 which is a new format, can handle more data, faster speeds. other countries use mpeg-4 for HD TV which can be received by older technologies.

It's not the technologies fault, it's how they're SOLD. a Freeview TV with HD Ready means it support HD Devices, it doesn't specifically say CAN RECEIVE FREEVIEW HD TV.
