stock levels and ebay madness ?

im betting they may for a week,but ala japan and the states i think there just going to end up sitting on the shelves
unless sony deliberatly undersupply stores to conjour up a false sense of demand for them
since pal regions have had a delayed launch,sony have had plenty of time to make sure stock is available to all who want a ps3

I cant see them selling on ebay for much over face value...surely not everybody has money to burn?! And everybody will have the same idea to buy a couple and sell one of them!

you say that but look what happened with the nintendo wiis everyone knew that there would be a shortage and they do with the ps3 also it has been deklayed that many times people will be wanting them pretty bad i think

Im know what your saying mate but the difference is MASSIVE. The Wii cost £179, the PS3 is £425...I cant see people paying over £500 on ebay so I dont think its worth it. Having said that im tempted to pre-order and see what happens!
I think there will be some rush for the PS3 but not as bad as everyone is thinking. I'm sure that comment may come to bite me in the butt come 23rd march.
Why do i say this well Argos are still trying pre orders. Game rang me up saying they will take £50 deposit on Sat at 1pm.
Come sat I was round town and walked past the game at 1pm expecting a big line of people. What did i see, 3 people at the till & don't know if they even after the ps3.
My mate went into Game today and they are still taking pre orders.
I think sony have made a big mistake with the launch of the PS3. delaying it at christmas opened the doors for the Xbox and wii to get a foot hold on the market.
The hardcore games will want the PS3, there is no question about that but will the 2 point 4 children be getting it come march. I can't see it myself, as they would of got the Xbox at christmas.
What i will say to ppl who try and compair the Xbox with the PS3 who say the games are the same there both in HD.
well that might be true to a point and that point is 1080p. Thats somethink the xbox can't output in and if u have a full hd tele which i do u will see an improvement of upto 6 times compaired to 720p
but hey i hear xbox ppl saying it has 1080i on my game box. True it does but the tele knocks that signal down to 720p.
also one more thing, it has a BLUERAY drive

the fact the ps3 has a bluray drive is whats gunna stop folk buying it since its hiked the price up beyond what most folk wanna pay
from a gaming standpoint the ps3 has nothing over the 360 yet
from a multimedia stand point and to an extent hacking standpoint the ps3 is gunna be beter

Walked past blockbuster's on the way back home and saw a sign for a ps3 pre-order, tempted but not entirely sure.
Consoles only really come good after 6months to a year, so might wait.

well - I was about to pick one up in the states last week but I hesitated. They weren't that easy to find in the general stores like Walmart but Sony Store had them.
First reason to buy was that I wanted one and the cost was 600 USD.
But then I thought hmmm Ebay but by the time I had purchased the extra controller, a game etc then If I sold it on Ebay I would only make about £40.
Then the clincher for me was the guy in the shop who told me that they still had a high returns rate. He mentioned a figure of 8% - ok less than 1 in 100 but knowing my luck!!!
One thing I did notice was the cost of games. The most expensive 360 game was $49.99 (+ taxes is the norm) The PS3 was 49.99 to $59.99. WIth the £ so strong at the moment then this would be one reason for buying a US unit and importing games - that is is you don't download them
