Celtic maintained their winning start to the season, Rangers picked up three points at lunchtime, and Hearts made progress after a disappointing opening to their campaign.

St Johnstone lost to Dunfermline, while Motherwell's promising form continued with a late win at St Mirren.

Celtic 5 Dundee Utd 1
Hearts 3 Aberdeen 0
Inverness 0 Rangers 2
St Johnstone 0 Dunfermline 1
St Mirren 0 Motherwell 1

Neil Lennon's Celtic continued their 100 per cent start to the league season, as a first home match resulted in a 5-1 win over Dundee United.

Anthony Stokes (4) and Gary Hooper (33) scored either side of Johnny Russell's equaliser (31), before Ki Sung-Yueng (58) Joe Ledley (71) and James Forrest (90) added further goals

In Saturday's lunchtime kick-off, defending champions Rangers won 2-0 at Inverness, with Nikica Jelavic from the penalty spot on the hour mark and Maurice Edu eight minutes later scoring the goals.

Edu, though was sent off for a second booking in the 75th minute, while Ross Tokely was dismissed for Inverness when giving away the penalty.

Hearts, now under the management of Paulo Sergio, made some progress towards forgetting a disappointing start to the season, which included the sacking of Jim Jefferies, and picked up their first league win of the campaign with a 3-0 victory over Aberdeen at Tynecastle.

Andy Kirk's first-half goal was enough to ensure St Johnstone have still to win at home this season after Dunfermline, who had John Potter sent off in the 61st minute, collected a 1-0 win.

Motherwell have made a bright start to the season, and they continued as Tom Hateley's 90th minute goal earned a 1-0 win at St Mirren.
