Sound Card problems

Hi Y'all

I've recently upgraded to an AMD 1.2ghz with 512Mb of RAM. My board is Matsonic with a built in sound card. I have a geforce 2 32Mb graphics card. When I try to run any games the sound will start normally and then stick repeating a sound like a machine gun. I've tried installing the latest drivers but can't seem to fix it any ideas?

Does the game continue ok? or does it hang up too?<br />It might be a Direct X problem. Try re-installing with the latest version.

The game carries on no problem and I think I've got the latest direct X (is it 8?). I'll download it again just to be sure.
