Sony will release a new edition of its bestselling PlayStation 2 video games console this October, according to The Economic Times.
The fourth generation PS2 will be slimmer than previous models and will feature a built-in AC power adaptor.
However, the new machine, which will launch simultaneously in Europe and India, will not be a discounted model, with MCV reporting that the system will retain the current price point of £94.99.
SCE PlayStation country manager Atindriya Bose said: "Sony PlayStation, over the last 13 years, has evolved as every gamer's aspiration. It has its own cult following and to grow this base, SCE wants to market PS-2 as gaming console for novices of all age groups and class.
“PS-2 is an entry-level console, which helps first timers to enter the gaming zone.
