smargo smartreader+ on octagon sf 1018 hd alliance

Hi

I've just bought a number of these tol read smartcards to one receiver. I can't get it to work though. i have updated the firmware but when I put it in to the USB port on the receiver with the smartcard in, nothing happens. Can anyone help me please? I have an octagon sf1018 hd receiver.
