seagate 500 gig question

i've had nothing but bad luck with seagate 3 die in matter of months
and theyt wer all under a year old
i wont knowingly buy seagate again
also thats not cheap for a 500 external check the bargins out

Had 2 seagates, 1 internal 1 external. The internal one worked fine and never missed a beat. The external started to play up after about 5 years but it was in a Lacie enclosure which was shite and made it run hot. Don't think they're any better or worse than other makes.

I've never had a failure problem with Seagate (though since they bought out Maxtor their drives seem to be causing problems for some people), they aren't the quietest of drives though.

Anyway, recently, I've not bought anything but Samsung's Spinpoint range (specifically the non 'EcoGreen' sub-range if you can find one) or Western Digital's Black range (Scorpio or Caviar).

All my drives are seagate. Never had any problems with any of them yet.

We also rarely get seagate failures at work. It tends to be either Maxtors or IBM drives that fail in my experience

I've also had issues with Samsung drives in the past aswell :-(

Would go with pob on that one.

Been buying Samsung Spinpoints for the last few years.
Well priced, run cool and quiet and yet to have any problems.
