A revamped Fame Academy is to begin on the BBC within weeks, it was announced today.
The second series of the reality show will open with a new twist -- the viewers themselves will choose the thirteen contestants they want in the Academy from a shortlist of twenty-five.
Other aspects of the show will remain the same as last year: returning is headteacher Richard Park, vocal coach Carrie Grant, fitness trainer Kevin Adams and personal tutor Jeremy Milne. Newcomers to the teaching staff are Carrie's husband David, also a vocal coach, and Jo, the music teacher.
One student will be kicked out of the Academy each week until one is left standing, the winner of a £1m recording contract with Polydor Records and a "showbiz lifestyle" for a year.
The BBC said the series would begin "late July or early August," although August 1 is the most likely date to avoid a clash with Channel 4's Big Brother final.
