Ps3 asking for firmware 4.11 or above

My son has a ps3 that seems to be corrupted & its asking for media to be inserted with firmware 4.11 or above. Anyone know where i find this & would i be better to install a hacked firmware. Also is it just a case of downloading file & put on a usb stick ?

Only firmware i have found is the official 4.31 firmware. I dont want to install this if its going to stop the ability to run hacked firmware at a future date.

Not sure as hardrive is corrupt & it keeps asking for new system software media to be inserted. It says it needs to be 4.11 or above ,so i would think its on 4.11

if it asking for 4.11 or above, then its on 4.11 already. so u have already lost the ability to run cfw

just go to the official site and download ofw 4.40
