problems with tcip and ftp

have set the computer up with a fixed ip addy 192.168.0.2(followed tute and worked first time i done it)

and i am not connecting with the dbox2

also using ftp not connecting
i did have it working but then it stopped so thinking it was a computer problem formated the comp but still the same problem
tried a standard network cable to conect to internet this works so rules out network card
only thing i can think of is the crossover cable
so have sent for a new one
but just incase any other ideas???

In the network settings on the dbox make sure start network on boot is on
DHCP off
Give it a ip of 192.168.0.4
subnetmask 255.255.255.0
the next 3 can be blank
broadcast
default gateway
dns server
Press red to restart network then press home and red to save settings.

Set your pc networkcard to 10baseT_halfduplex
disable any other network cards including wirles/bluetooth etc.
see if it connects now.
