Problems with a 1x SAGEM

Hi guys, I have been given a box to look at from a guy at work who bought it off fleebay. its a 1 x Sagem box.

It came with Commando 6 on it and he set it for his location and everythng and scanned at was fine for about 4days. The he says he lost all the channels so he tried to do another scan and it woudnt find any channels. So he gave it me to see what I could do.

It wouldnt fine any channels when I scanned either so I guessed at a corrupt image, so I reflashed the box with Commando 6, and hey presto it found al lthe channels..... BUT every channel now breaks up with freezing pictue and chirping sound.

I have tried a handful of images (Lincsat, Dons Specialist, Tardis etc) and also tried changng the EMU and the Ucodes through all variations I could find, but it does the same. My own Sagem works 99% on my line (odd freeze and lockup but not much). I checked the BER/SNR/SIG when the channel breaks up and from what I can remember (its a kein system from doing the wrong image at the moment! and my null cable is it work :-( ) the settings where 0/64600(ish)/22400(ish i think!)

I have tried the old disconnect the modem and have checked for dry joints where the tuner attaches to the main board and on the tuner itself but cant see anything wrong at all.

Has anyone any ideas before i have to go back to work and tell him hes wasted £130 and that maybe he should have bought a dreambox ;-)

Got to admit m8,you have tried just about everything I could think of there and seems as though the tuner is goosed.Especially when you say was working for a while then loses everything...I dont know if you have tried but some of the older Sportser images I found to work better when getting grief with dboxes not running too good..think it was 1.74 that worked best for me,but like you say you have tried all you can..See if he can even return it but the way the dboxes are now probably not get a refund..Could cut his loses and sell as faulty etc..good luck:eater:

you could try an enigma image i also found that box-cracker blue peer was good for dodgy box's hope this helps.

i was looking for a fix i remembered about fixing faulty sagem tuners that may well be in pt1s help files you could look in there for some more help

Thanks guys - i never thought of trying a Sportster image - i will give that a go when i get my null modem cable back to get the box out of kein system

thanks for the heads up on the tutorial for faulty sagems as well Johny48 - i will try what they have said and see how it goes (already removed the modem)

If you get a BER with zero there is nothing wrong with the tuner.
Try ucode version 001A and reboot your box. Without rebooting the change doesn't take effect.

there was thread maybe a month back with a fix for sagem, involved putting a self made heatsink on one of the tuner chips and it eing held on with a peg.have a search for it, it may help

when my sagem kept freezing i treid various images and u codes etc all with no joy, when i treid it upstairs everything seemed ok so i checked all cable connections downstairs and tried again but still problems, i then pulled the f type connector out a bit so it wasnt all the way in and been ok since, could b worth a try

Ok tried this now:

F-Connector fix = No good
Sportster 1.05 = still same

going for Boxcracker then will try some of the other ideas but its now looking good :-(

If you really get a BER with zero there is something wrong with enx driver or avia driver. You could try a sportster with enabled old drivers for avia600 for the sagem.

I tried sportster 1.05 and tried changing the AVIA drivers to all available options. 600 (2 options) and even tried 500 (2 options) and still the same m8. Still get a BER of 0 on every channel I try

Do you get the same problems with the free channels?

You say you can get all the channels just a problem within the stuttering, have you tried a signal booster? I have the same problem with my dreams, one will not work downstairs without a booster the other is fine?

Yep I get the problem on all channels including free channels. and err I cant remember whether I did reboot between changes (ive done that many changes and reboots recently) but I will try it again tonight and see what happens with reboots.

I was thinking about that m8, I might go and buy a cheap one from argos to see how it goes, is there anything special to look out for with the signal boosters? i.e any that wont work for cable etc?

Hi, try like MGB said to ucode 001A it did fix my problame.i got cammando6 x1 image when i uploaded it was freezing every couple of hours but i follow MGB advise to change my ucode to 001a and now its working fine no freez at all.

Maybe its time to check the bootlog.
