Possible move to Wakefield?

Guest
I've seen quite an interesting job advertised in Wakefield and would like
some advice on what it's like living and working in the area. My preference
would be to work in the city yet live in a very remote rural area - which is
what I do now in the West Midlands.

Can anyone suggest rural areas to live in that are maybe about 45 mins or
less from the city centre? And any other personal advice about the
town/area?

I've done a google/ looked at maps, but the council website etc doesn't
really help and I could do with a personal view.

Many thanks

Liz

Liz, you could be 40 to 60 miles from Wakey in 45mins.
east & south of wakey are ex mining areas, now becoming rural but still
relatively cheap for houses compared with north or west of the city.
Best areas for views etc. are to the south west, denby dale penistone.

You can find almost anything to suit, you'll have to visit the Gods Own
County to find out.

Hi Liz,

I live the Wakefield side of Huddersfield. There are two places I can
think of, both approx 10 miles from the centre of Wakefield. Emley
and Whitley are both rural areas, nice houses cottages, open spaces,
farms etc. I wouldn't say that they're very remote - you would be
able to get to a shop within a 5 - 10 min drive. I suppose it depends
on what remote means to you. This area offers the best of both
worlds. Open spaces, nice & quiet yet not far from anything really.
I have to say that Emley has one of the best farm shops I've ever been
to. Fantastic sausages. But now I'm getting off topic...

How could sausages possibly be off topic anywhere?

I wonder who sells the best sausages in Yorkshire :)
