Once a suspect has been arrested and bailed, is there a time limit whereas they must charge you or release you from the bail? I know they give you so many months and when you return, they give you another few months etc, but is there an overall time limit?

Cheers

Dar

P.S. i'm not on bail, just curious :)

There is no maximum period of bail but the period of bail should be no longer than is necessary for the police assemble the evidence in their case against you (or not you lol)

there is no ma but you can be on bail as long as it takes for the case to be heard
i was on bail for 22 months for 1 case

Cheers chaps,

Reason i ask is that a few mates are on bail for some, lets say, financial irregularities. First they were bailed for 6 months, then onother 6, then another 8. One of their conditions is that their bank accounts are sort of frozen with a £250 a week withdrawel limit, so i was wondering how long the old bill can inconvenience a suspect without actually charging them. Surely they can't mess you about indefiately?
