Hi Guys,

I have just built a media center PC with HDMI out.

Is there anyway I can play Blue-Ray HD stuff without having to get a Blue Ray etc drive.

I.e. if I have a Blue Ray DVD mounted with Alcohol 120 will I be able to play them?

Dunno whether this sounds way out!! : spook :

you can download the HD dumps of HDDVD and Bluray on newsgroups, they are in WMV and H / X264 format. should play just fine

bear in mind u will have to had a decent PC to play full 1080p hddvd/bluray rips.
I say decent but the main thing is the codec too, grab a copy* of core AVC codec from your local torrent or whatever and install that, it's the most efficient player.

Most downloadable HiDef rips are about dvd size at 720p and dvd9+ size at 1080p. For the best result ppl just put them in a diferent 'container (mkv) and dont touch the video or sound at all, these files can be big like! Dolby tru digital fully uncompressed 8channel sound yay!

Get a big hard drive
